Molly and Adam’s Inn on Peaks Island, Maine wedding and reception

Molly and Adam had a perfect late summer day for their nautically themed Peaks Island wedding. They decorated the Inn on Peaks Island with tasteful nautical touches; mussel shells in the base of the flower vases, cookies and cakes in the shape of lobsters from Cranberry Island Kitchen, a rope tied in a knot for a boutonniere, and even the officiant wore a dress with anchors on it!  It all came together so wonderfully, I’ve never seen the Inn so personalized for a reception. Lyndsey Cole of Lyndsey Cole Events really pulled it all together bringing Molly and Adam’s vision to light. If you’re planning a wedding in New England with a nautical theme check this one out. Their theme is also very meaningful to them, as they are sailors and lovers of the ocean. Their boat was even docked at a nearby pier.

Several times throughout the day we trekked down to the beach and dock for photos, which was possible thanks to their first look.  At sunset, we headed to the backside of Peaks to shoot at a section of the coast where someone builds impressive rock cairns. It’s a location that I’ve always wanted to shoot at, and the sunset that night gave us the perfect opportunity. The portraits we made are some of my most favorite of all time. Often when travelling around this great state I see places and think to myself, if only I could shoot a bridal couple there; this is one of those spots and I’m so glad we were able to make it happen.

The Maine-based band, The Waiters was in the house and showed endless talent and energy, the crowd fed off of their enthusiasm all night long. One guest even tore his pants wide open while doing the splits on the dance floor! Being ice skaters, there were also lots of spins and moves I’ve never seen before at a wedding. So much fun was had by all!

After the sun had long set, and the band packed away their instruments everyone walked down to the beach to release Chinese lanterns. Before setting them off guest wrote their wishes to the couple on the paper of the lantern, which were then released into the night sky. A beautiful and symbolic end to an amazing wedding day.

Congratulations Molly and Adam, I hope you had a wonderful honeymoon!
