Michelle and Matt’s Scarborough, Maine engagement shoot

I met up with Michelle and Matt for their engagement shoot on Sunday evening, just before sunset. When I got to Ferry Beach in Scarborough I found that the autumn light was to die for, and I also found an adorable couple waiting for me there! These two U Maine grads don’t live in Maine anymore, but are coming back for their wedding, so this was our first meeting in person. After getting over the initial engagement shoot jitters that all couples have, we had a blast strolling around and getting to know each other. After Ferry Beach we popped over to Prouts Necks for a few dramatic shots on the rocks that loom over the crashing surf. For fun, I’ve asked Michelle to share with you how they met, and how Matt proposed, since it is such a sweet story!

“We met at the University of Maine (where Matt went to play baseball) through mutual friends and have been dating for over 6 years. It took Matt about 6 months to ask for my phone number, and another 3 to ask me on a date…but we’ve been together ever since :).
The proposal was a little funny…we were in Maine for the weekend and were spending the day in Kennebunkport, so Matt suggested that we go to the beach/coast around there.  We went to a gorgeous rocky spot near where President Bush lives (he was in town), and Matt repeatedly commented on how crowded it was. I had no idea that he was planning to propose and did not think it was crowded at all…we ended up leaving. When we got home, he proposed in my parents’ yard!  I later found out he had planned it to be at the beach, but got too nervous by all the people around.  He also planned for me to see my family and most of my best friends that night, so we had a big celebration!”

See you two again next summer! -alex
