It is no secret that I shoot a lot of island weddings, but they’re usually out on Peaks Island which is just a short 3 miles from Portland. This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit Great Diamond Island; which is a much quieter more exclusive island, for Madison and Josh’s nuptials. I have to say that it was worth the long, crowded ferry ride. It was truly a memorable wedding day! From their unique, funny yet deeply personal ceremony, to the seemingly endless cocktail hour on the lawn, it was a relaxed celebration that felt a bit like a vacation. We had perfect weather too, despite the fact that cold and rain were imminent in the forecast. The reception tent sits away from the road, so it is a very private location, not that the road matters since no cars are allowed on the island! It is so quiet out there that I felt as though we had the whole island to ourselves. Their ceremony was held under the canopy of the trees overlooking the little harbor, I don’t think I could dream up a more classicly ‘Maine’ venue.
Congratulations Madison and Josh, thanks for trusting me to tell the story of your day!
