I recently ventured out to Peaks Island to shoot Lorraine and Will’s stunning autumn wedding at Harbor View at Jones Landing. Such a gorgeous day, an adorable couple, and a wonderful group of family and friends. I’m so lucky to be a part of these joyful celebrations. I’ve shot dozens of weddings on Peaks Island over-the-years, but I knew that Lorraine and Will had a deeper connection to the island than most of my couples, because of this I asked for Lorraine’s help to share more about her connection to the island and why being married there was so important to them. This is a special place that gets into your soul and beckons you to never leave.
Lorraine’s ancestors, the Sterlings, were one of the founding families of Peaks Island. Her great-grandparents, grandparents, and father spent every summer at their Evergreen Cottage. Lorraine’s parents were married on the island, leading to Lorraine spending all of her summers there. Even Lorraine’s longest friendship, with her maid of honor, grew its roots out on Peaks. Years later, Will and Lorraine revealed their love for each other on Evergreen Beach (our first stop for couples photos).
Whether it’s the timeless beauty of the rocky coastline or the late August sunsets, it was even more evident to Lorraine that Peaks Island connects people. Inviting Peaks Island to the wedding was a preposterous idea and completely impossible, therefore they knew getting married on Peaks Island would allow them to be connected to each other forever. How amazing is that? Thanks again Lorraine and Will, it was stunning!
