September is always the busiest month for weddings in Maine, and it is not hard to understand why. September weddings in Maine often feature bluebird skies, a light breeze, warm sun, and thin high clouds. Lauren and John got all of their and more for the wedding on Peaks Island last Saturday. What luck!
They chose the Inn on Peaks for their reception, and St. Christopher Parish for their ceremony. This little gem of a church is just a short walk from the ferry dock, and while en route guests are treated to the sights and sounds of Maine island life. Rather than a parade of cars down the road bikes, golf carts, and people stroll along casually — no one is in a hurry on the island, and you feel instantly relaxed and happy.
Post-ceremony Lauren and John’s guests ambled back down Island Avenue to the Inn to enjoy cocktails and games while the happy couple and I sped away on a golf cart for photos at my favorite location, a beach filled with rock cairns on the east side of the island. This spot always make for a dramatic backdrop, and during the trip around the island the tourists and residents hoot, holler and yell their congratulations to the couple! So sweet, it is like the whole island is celebrating alongside them!
Congratulations Lauren and John, I hope you’re relaxing in the sun on your honeymoon!
