The last wedding of the 2013 season was representative of all the weddings I shot this year, both beautiful and fun! I can’t believe the season is already over, summer goes by too fast here in New England.
Kelly and Chad were wed at Harbor View at Jones Landing on Peaks Island under a perfect blue sky adorned with puffy white clouds. It can’t be said that everything went off without a hitch however, island weddings always present unique challenges, and this wedding was no different. Several guests missed the chartered ferry, and among them was one of the readers…this was discovered just as the ceremony was set to start, but in the nick of time the water taxi pulled up and deposited the reader and a handful of guests onto the dock just below the ceremony site. All was well, and from then on everything proceeded flawlessly.
One highlight of the ceremony was when Thomas, the adorable little ring bearer stopped his walk down the aisle to dance to the processional music. Practically everyone burst into laughs and smiles, he was blissfully unaware of the crowd watching his dance moves, and was eventually coaxed along by Morgan, the equally cute flower girl. It was a sweet moment of innocence and joy, which was followed by the stunningly beautiful Kelly being escorted down the aisle by her father. Kelly and Chad had decided to forgo a first look, and when Chad caught sight of his beautiful bride he broke into the biggest smile I’d ever seen.
The Black Tie Co., put on a delicious feast as usual, with a raw bar and cheese table that could have fed twice as many guests. Kelly and Chad’s first dance was to Amos Lee’s song Flower, a unique choice and as a huge Amos Lee fan myself, a great choice! The first line is so lovely: My heart is a flower, that blooms every hour, I believe in the power of love…
Congrats Chad and Kelly, thanks for helping me to end the season on a high note!
