It’s autumn in Maine, and that means changing leaves, apple picking and pumpkin patches, and that’s where I found myself this past Friday evening for Katie and Cam’s engagement photos. Somewhat surprisingly, I’ve never actually photographed an engagement session in an apple orchard before, so when Katie and Cam inquired about having their session at a farm I was overjoyed. We lucked out and chose a perfect evening and perfect location to explore; Snell Family Farm. I know Snell Family farm well for their wonderful produce, and also their flowers which have graced many weddings I’ve photographed over the years. I also used to be a CSA member of theirs, so I was thankful they gave us access to their beautiful property in Buxton, Maine.
We started our shoot among the apple trees, then explored the fields and buildings as the sun was setting. Katie found the most perfect dress to wear from the online company Rent the Runway, the warm yellow color perfectly said autumn, and complimented the changing foliage wonderfully. Their wedding will be in the mountains next summer, which will be here sooner than we know it!
I’ve asked Katie to tell you a little bit out themselves, and their engagement story – so sweet!
Cam and I are both “Mainers”, I am from Veazie and he is from Gorham. We met in college at the University of Maine the pleasure of sharing our fun college years with one another!
Cam and I have experienced a lot of things with one another through our over seven years together. Four years of a long distance relationship, many weekend getaways to the lake or the mountains, and some amazing trips to Europe, Disney World, and many local spots in New England.
Since we have been dating, it’s been a tradition of ours to get Christmas ornaments for one another around the holidays, many of them from places we traveled or memories we had that year. This year, Cam surprised me by putting my engagement ring on a branch of the little tree in our apartment and that is how he asked me to marry him!
