What a day for a wedding! Julie and Patrick picked a perfect one, and it was oh-so-fun too!
There were lots of friendly and familiar faces at this wedding, which makes my job so much easier. You may recognize Courtney and Mark from their wedding last year; Courtney and groom Patrick are siblings, and it was nice to see their friends and family again. It means a lot to me when I am asked to document a family’s milestones year-after-year. Now I’m wondering when I’ll be called for baby photos….
Julie and Patrick’s ceremony was at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Biddeford Pool. St. Brendan’s is one of those quaint, rustic ‘summer only’ chapels that dot the Maine coast. They have such character and history, I wish the (uninsulated) walls could talk! After the wedding we boarded the trolley for their reception at The Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport. Both the church and The Colony have a historic/retro feel to them, the pairing for ceremony and reception gave the whole day a very classic seaside Maine wedding vibe. Perfect!
And, will you just look at that sunset!! I couldn’t believe our luck, it was that perfect golden light that every photographer dreams of. It is so amazing, and so fleeting at the same time, I squeezed a lot of portraits into a very short time as you can see.
If you were at guest at this wedding, it goes without saying that Julie and Patrick’s choice of reception entertainment was second to none! World Premier Band is out of Boston, and holy smokes did they have the guests on their feet! There were so many people crowding the dance floor that I could not make my way through the crowd so I had to stand over a speaker in order to get any photos at all! If it weren’t for the quiet hours at the hotel, I’m sure they could have had this group dancing well into the wee hours of the morning, me included!
Thanks again Julie and Patrick, I hope you’re having a fun and relaxing time in Hawaii!
