Julie and Matt were married last Saturday, it was another perfect weather weekend, but, this time there was the slightest touch of crispness to the air hinting at autumn. Here in New England, we’re starting to feel the change of the seasons, and all of the colors Julie chose for her wedding ushered in that fact (rich oranges and browns, yum!). Julie is a bride with an eye for detail, and the skills to pull it off. So much of the decor was made by hand, but so well done that I would not have known. Just some of the things made by hand included the invites, table cards, menus, programs and escort cards, candy buffet signs and more! While the Red Sox hat groom’s cake was not made by hand by Julie, it was a surprise to Matt! I wish more couple’s had groom’s cakes they’re always so much fun!
Portsmouth Country Club was the setting for both the wedding and reception, but before the wedding itself we headed out on a trolley for what I like to call the ‘informal formals’. Julie and Matt had opted to get most of the family and bridal party photos done before their wedding, this way they were able to join the guests for the entire cocktail hour, and the wedding reception was not interrupted by an annoying photographer…kidding aside, being willing to see each other before the wedding itself will lead to more time for you to spend with your guests, since the formal photos will be done. before they arrive for the reception.
Julie’s son Brendan was beaming and proud throughout the ceremony, then ended the night with a major dance-off with a guest. The candy buffet was a huge hit, and I can highly recommend it to couples still in the planning stages of their weddings. Maybe you can hire Julie to make all the cute labels for the jars! Etsy shop perhaps?
