This wasn’t just one wedding, but two! To start, I met up with Ilona and Kenny (and a few of their close family and friends) on Wednesday at Portland’s City Hall for an intimate ceremony. The real party though was on Friday at Point Lookout in Northport, Maine. Their Point Lookout wedding and reception had a fabulous deco-vibe and roaring 20’s theme. From cool hats and black tuxes for the groom’s party, and amazing gold-accented gowns for the bridesmaids; every little detail was fitting to the theme. The biggest surprise was the that they brought a band, The Dirty River Dixie Band up all the way from Texas! I cannot blame them, they were truly amazing! If I’m ever in Texas again I’ll try and find out where they’re playing, such talent!
Their wedding felt like an international family reunion, with names on the place cards from as far away as Iceland and Ukraine. This wedding was truly a destination wedding. It was hard to believe that they aren’t all related because everyone got along so well.
Again, the weather was a challenge (like every wedding this year!), rain threatened to move the ceremony indoors, but Ilona and Kenny made the right call when they decided to go for it and have the chairs moved to the lawn. Everything went off without a hitch, except for maybe the reluctant monarchs at the butterfly release.
Thanks so much Ilona and Kenny, I wish you all the best!
