Fran and Michael’s waterfront, Portland, Maine engagement shoot

Awesome couple alert! I met up with Fran and Mike Sunday night for their engagement shoot. It had been raining on and off all day, and I fully expected to get a call or email asking to cancel, but no, these two are up for anything. Fran also knew that the overcast sky made for great. flattering light, so they showed up early and were ready to go! Sunday nights in this part of Portland are perfect for engagement shoots, we pretty much had the area to ourselves, and with almost no cars around we were afforded some backdrops and shooting spaces that normally aren’t available during the week. Score!

Brave is the best word I can find to describe them, even in nice clothes and some serious high heels (for Fran!) they were willing to go anywhere I asked, even onto Fran’s family sailboat docked in the last slip at the end of the marina. That’s a long walk on a shaky dock in heels. Probably not the sanest or safest thing to do, but I couldn’t resist the photo op. Later I asked them to stand in a garbage strewn patch of weeds and they did so without hesitation, needless to say I’m pretty excited about the photos we’ll be making on their wedding day in September!
