Erica and Jay were wed on a perfect fall day at the Grand Isle Lake House in Grand Isle, Vermont. That said, the day didn’t start off so perfect…my second photographer, Kelsey and I had driven out to Vermont on Friday for Saturday’s events, and when we awoke Saturday morning it was positively pouring out. It kept on raining well into the late morning, but miraculously it cleared just in time for their ceremony to be held on the lawn overlooking Lake Champlain. Yay! This setting was simply too beautiful for an indoor wedding.
We took full advantage of the fact that the rain stopped, and spent some time shooting portraits on the large lawn, in front of the colorful maples, and the rocky beach. Guests enjoyed their cocktail hour inside the house, on the porch, and strolling the beautiful grounds. Weddings that take place in the same location as the reception are so relaxing for guests and couples alike, there is no shuttling around from one location to another, and therefore everyone can really enjoy themselves.
After their cocktail hour, guests moved onto the wide, covered porch for dinner, and then inside for dancing and desserts. I found the Grand Isle Lake House to be a perfect venue for a smaller wedding, plus they have guest-rooms upstairs to accommodate the family and wedding party for overnight.
I don’t usually travel to Vermont for weddings, so working in a new location, with new vendors was a treat. Their chosen florist, Flowers in Season, did an amazing job. Plus, they had so many yummy desserts including an incredible assortment of tiny, but flavorful cupcakes by My Little Cupcake. Yum! The day really turned out perfectly in the end.
Thanks for inviting me to come to Vermont to document your wedding Erica and Jay, it was a pleasure being a part of your day!
