Elsa and Zack’s Flanagan Farm, Buxton, Maine wedding and reception

Elsa and Zack’s wedding may not have gone exactly according to plan, but that’s only because it took place in the middle of Maine’s first Nor’easter of the season, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t still a beautiful, warm and thoroughly festive occasion.

I have worked with New Hampshire-based wedding planner, Melanie Voros of Blissful Beginnings Weddings and Events for many years, and she had a huge role in helping to make this wedding a reality, consequently I have asked her to tell you a bit about the wedding planning process in her own words.

“From my first meeting with Elsa and Zack over coffee & tea in Boston back in November of 2017, I knew that their wedding would be special.  They exudepinthisd a tenderness with one another and joined outlook of their wedding that I do not often see.  Their wedding day would be a celebration not only of their marriage, but a joyful commemoration of joining their enormous circle of friends and family scattered all over the globe.  Their nearly 200 person guest list included twenty bride’s and groom’s men and women…six junior bridesmaids and eight flower children!

Zack and Elsa chose the bucolic Barn at Flanagan Farm for their late October wedding, for the exact reason that they wanted to settle in and spend an extended weekend with their families and friends.

They also instantly accepted me into the fold, and I became a part of their “people”- Zack and Elsa’s trust and honesty throughout those 11 months made the planning process less a job than a treat.  They allowed me along the entire journey- from gown shopping and fittings with Elsa to vendor selections, timeline decisions, hair trials and tastings.  When life threw challenges and health issues at them during the planning process, they were each other’s greatest support system. As their planner and friend, I wanted nothing more than to alleviate any wedding related stressors so their wedding could be a welcome light to look forward to, during a tough time for their families.

As the big day approached and news of New England’s first Nor’easter of the season broke, backup generator power was on standby and Plan B was in place.  Guests were welcomed to Maine with a rehearsal night Pizza Party where friends and families met and embraced the bride and groom with love and support.

Elsa and Zack’s wedding day bore the brunt of the storm, but the large heated dinner tent and barn were dressed and ready to offer refuge. Perhaps Mother Nature’s plan was exactly as it should have been- the intimacy created by the raging autumn storm outside the protective walls of the Barn allowed the guests to gather close and fully surround Zack and Elsa as they exchanged vows.  There was comfort food to be eaten, heartfelt toasts to be proposed, friends with babies in arms and kids twirling on the dancefloor. It was truly a celebration of Love and Family. I have never been a part of such a large wedding that felt so intimate, but that is a testament to Elsa and Zack and their magnetic warmth.”

Thanks so much, Melanie, and congrats again to Elsa and Zack!
