Summer has truly arrived in Maine, and Saturday was as close to a perfect Maine day as it gets! Crisp blue skies, a light sea breeze, and a bit warm, but not too warm. What we like to call a ‘Chamber of Commerce’ day; suffice to say, Colleen and Zack’s wedding day could not have been scripted better. Especially nice for a wedding where many of the guests traveled from Colleen’s home country, just north of the border, Canada! Maine was really putting on a show.
Colleen and Zack exchanged their wedding vows at Fort Allen Park on Portland’s Eastern Promenade. This location provides an unobstructed view of Casco Bay as a picturesque backdrop; islands dot the water, and boats pass lazily by. Their reception was held just blocks away at The Ocean Gateway terminal. Their solution to get guests to and from the ceremony site was to rent the Narrow Gauge Railroad for the day, SO COOL! This little detail was so much fun for their family and friends. The Narrow Gauge Railroad is a fixture on the waterfront, and was perfect addition for a Portland wedding. When guests arrived back at Ocean Gateway they were treated to cocktail hour on the panoramic deck overlooking the bay, awesome music by Retrospectius, and even a cake made by the Matron of Honor. A lovely night for a lovely couple.
