This wedding was so truly unique that I can’t come up with words to describe it, so I let Chrissy (the bride), try and sum it up for you!
“What comes to mind when you combine tie-dye, dogs, pigs, Jaws, Disney music and bumper stickers? That’s simple, our wedding in a nutshell! Ben and I met in late spring of 2011 after finding each other on match.com. Fast-forward eight and a half years later, and we have a house, a plethora of pets and OUR WEDDING DAY! We decided to get married in Maine for one reason-MAINE IS AMAZING! We seasonally camp in Scarborough, and we got engaged there, so it only seemed right for the best day of our lives to be spent there as well!
I am not much of a planner, so pulling this wedding together was probably the biggest hurdle I have ever encountered! We had two years to plan it from our engagement, so naturally, I saved everything for the last few months leading up to the wedding. I had ideas, but how would I pull all these random pieces together and have them make sense?! I also wasn’t one to really ask for help, so 99% of this wedding was in my head at all times…No one, including myself, really knew what was going on until the day before! Etsy had become my best friend, and I had found some of the most amazing crafters and vendors that have ever existed. My ideas that were rolling around in my mind were somehow turned into realities, and we rolled into Maine with bins upon bins of random décor.
With the help of some awesome individuals and a fantastic day-of-coordinator, we turned an elegant barn into an extravagant, colorful circus. Every inch of detail was a personal touch, from boutonnieres made out of bumper stickers (to capture our love of bumper stickers!) to a Jaws themed guestbook. We had colorful signs, pictures hung everywhere, tie-dye accents and a pig wearing a tuxedo. The day was nothing short of magical, and not a thing was out of place. The organized chaos fell together as if I had planned it that way, and I have not a single complaint-with the exception that I wish we could live it all over again.”
