A perfect August day dawned, then became a chilly, but perfect August evening for Bronwyn and Derek’s wedding at the Lion’s Club on Peaks Island. Family and friends from around the globe converged on this tiny Maine island to celebrate alongside Bronwyn, Derek and of course, their dog, Bear! And while I did shoot another wedding at the Lion’s Club in July, Bronwyn and Derek’s wedding was completely different and as unique as they are.
Their sweet ceremony, officiated by Bronwyn’s aunt, overlooked Casco Bay, and their cocktail hour was also held on the sweeping lawn. They chose to have their reception inside the large hall, and I was astounded at how beautifully it was decorated, it looked like a completely different place then I remembered! The long tables were adorned with vases of fresh, local flowers, shells, seaweed, navy and white striped tablecloths, and then over each chair hung a custom lobster bib. Cafe lights and uplights created a warm and festive space, that was welcoming and cozy at the same time.
Joe from Dionne Entertainment, was set-up on the stage for the night, leaving a huge dance floor that was filled to the doors. At one point I looked down from the balcony and saw people dancing all over the hall, the joy was contagious. Dandelion Catering was responsible for the huge feast at dinner, and it was some of the most aesthetically pleasing and delicious food I’ve ever seen at a wedding. This was my first chance to work with them, and I was very impressed.
Bronwyn and Derek brought on Kristina Slocum of The Purple Orchid as a month-of wedding planner, another first for me was working with them, and I was impressed. It is a joy to work at a wedding when surrounded by other professionals that are both capable and fun.
Bronwyn and Derek are currently off touring the globe on their honeymoon, and I wish them all the best!
