Garrick and Becky met through mutual friends while living in Providence, Rhode Island. They went on their first date right before Christmas and never looked back. They enjoy many things together including college football, the outdoors, traveling, experiencing local cultures, and of course good craft breweries. They both share a love for winter and Christmastime and thought cutting down their first tree together was the perfect way to celebrate their engagement. I was personally overjoyed because pretty much no one is ever interested in having a winter engagement shoot, and I too love winter!
Most folks aren’t willing to take a chance with winter weather for their shoots because it can be so unpredictable (and cold!), and this past week’s weather was no exception we had rain, and lots of it! We postponed the session for a few days, and lo and behold the temps dropped, the rain turned to snow and the shoot was on. I awoke that morning to a perfect light snowfall, and temps hovering right around 32 degrees, so we didn’t freeze our buns off. The snow on the field of trees looked like a scene from a movie, and Becky and Garrick were even dressed like LL Bean models, right down to their LL Bean duck boots.
Their wedding is set for The Portland Club next October in Portland, so it will be awhile before I see these two smiling faces again.
Also, it must be said that thanks go out to the kind folks at Boiling Spring Tree Farm in Dayton, Maine for allowing us to have our shoot there.
