Ashley and Ross’s (and Colby too!) engagements in Portland’s Old Port

Ashley and Ross are one of my only ‘local’ couples for this coming wedding season, and since we’re both familiar with what this part of Maine has to offer, we have come up with lots of fun ideas for their photos next year. One of my favorite ideas includes a plan to get some pictures on the Ferris Wheel at Palace Playland on Old Orchard Beach. When Ashley and I first met, she asked me if I’d be up for that, and I practically jumped out of my chair! I’ve always wanted to shoot wedding photos at an amusement park, and Ashley and Ross will be perfect subjects; they’re fun, open, and up for pretty much anything, I learned this at their engagement shoot in Portland last weekend. Oh, and I forgot to mention they’re going to have the cutest little ring bearer ever, their 2 year old son Colby! Isn’t he a doll? He’s also reportedly known to tear up the dance floor at weddings! I can’t wait!

Charlie and Karina’s engagements in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

I met Charlie several years ago when I photographed James and Emily’s wedding in Portland. James and Emily are the couple from my almost famous ‘Wharf Street wedding party photo’, if you look closely in the slideshow running at the top of this blog you’ll see Charlie’s head poking out in the back! When Charlie was looking for a photographer for his own upcoming wedding I was happy to hear from him, even though Charlie and Karina are getting married in Connecticut! We met up last weekend for their engagement shoot in Portsmouth and had a blast strolling around this classic New England town.  I’ll see you guys again in August!

Gabrielle and Ron’s Engagement shoot in Portland’s Old Port

Portland’s Old Port is perhaps my favorite place to shoot in Maine, within just a matter of blocks you can have a gritty working waterfront, or a cobblestone street which is often mistaken for being worlds away. Gabrielle and Ron were up for anything, even though Gabrielle was in a fabulous pair of lavender high-heels (and that adorable dress!).  Most women who live in Portland know how hard it is to navigate Wharf Street in heels!

I’m really looking forward to their wedding on Peaks next year. Thanks to Gabrielle and Ron for making this a great start next year’s wedding season!

Linnea and David’s Falmouth to Portland engagement shoot

Friday was a summer-like spring day here in Maine, and a great day for Linnea and Dave’s engagement shoot. We started out at a family home in Falmouth Foreside where Linnea has summered since she was a child, and then moved onto the Old Port for some more funky shots.
For the Old Port portion of the shoot Linnea and Dave donned their swanky cowboy boots; this cool couple was getting looks all throughout Portland, I’m sure people were wondering who the famous pair was! See you guys again in a few months!

Maggie and Matt’s Engagement Session in Portsmouth

I had never actually met Maggie and Matt in person until their engagement shoot in Portsmouth last weekend, but by the end of the shoot they felt like old friends! We had so much fun, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a perfect backdrop for an engagement shoot. Maggie and Matt are renting a trolley for their wedding party, and I’m sure we’ll be visiting some of the same locations with the whole crew on the big day! See you in September!

Katie and Ben’s Engagements

Last Saturday may not have been the best day for the weather, but I still had fun with Katie and Ben tromping around the Old Port and taking their engagement photos! Katie and Ben don’t live in Maine, so it was great that they had time in their weekend of wedding meetings to have a quick e-shoot. See you again in June guys!
